Reiki Energy Healing

What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energetic system of holistic healing that originated in Japan. The term reiki (pronounced ray- key) is derived from two Japanese words- rei, which means gods wisdom or higher power, and ki, which means life force energy. Together, this defines reiki as a spiritually guided life force energy. We are all made of energy, including everything around us. Reiki is one way of interacting with that energy and being able to affect it in positive ways.

There are several forms of reiki practice that have been developed since its emergence. I currently practice and have become a certified Master Teacher in both the Usui and Karuna traditions. Reiki is used to heal the body on all levels (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). It brings forth a state of deep relaxation and feelings of peace and well being. Reiki can assist with easing emotional turmoil and stress, bringing clarity to the mind. It can facilitate healing of wounds, inflammation, and infections. It can also help with range of motion and joint function. There are a vast array of benefits from reiki energy healing.

What is a Reiki session like?
Reiki is delivered as a light touch on or above the body. In a reiki-only session, the client relaxes, fully clothed, on a decadent massage table with plenty of support pillows and soft fuzzy blankets. Candles, soft lighting and soothing music help to create a comforting environment. Before relaxing on the table, the client and practitioner will discuss any issues and goals the client may have, and the practitioner will assist the client in setting an intention for the session. Reiki energy is then channeled through the practitioner to the client, with various hand positions along the body. Soft chanting and tools such as a crystal pendulum, rattle, and incense may also be used during a session.

You may feel the reiki energy as a variety of sensations such as tingling, vibration, or changes in temperature. It is also possible that you may not experience much at all. Your energetic awareness may ebb and flow, and vary from experience to experience. It is important to approach a reiki session without expectations of what you may feel, as you will still receive the full benefit of a reiki session regardless of sensations experienced.

Once the session is complete, we will have the opportunity to discuss anything that came up for you during your session.
